As one of Nebraska's biggest cities, Omaha has its share of urban sprawl, but spend a little time in town and find museums, pleasant parks, plenty of places to tuck into for an Omaha steak and somewhat unexpectedly, an indoor rainforest.
Anthony Lakes Ski Area offers premier Nordic skiing in a spectacular setting. With 29 kilometers of groomed lanes and 11 km of single track and snowshoe trails, the Nordic area is a winter recreation wonderland. Open Thursday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Nordic Center Lodge is a great place to warm up beside the fireplace, get a snack, buy your trail pass and purchase or rent Nordic equipment and gear.
Sign up for lessons in either the Nordic Center or The Learning Center near the Main Lodge. Beginner lessons are $35 and include rentals, trail pass, and an hour lesson. If you already have your equipment the hour long lesson is only $25. A private non-beginner lesson is $45. Interested in signing up for a pack of lessons? Contact The Nordic Center or The Learning Center to get started.
