As one of Nebraska's biggest cities, Omaha has its share of urban sprawl, but spend a little time in town and find museums, pleasant parks, plenty of places to tuck into for an Omaha steak and somewhat unexpectedly, an indoor rainforest.
Farnum Creek Park, managed by the Corps of Engineers, is centrally located and has the best boat ramp access to the lake under any weather conditions. The boat ramp cove is protected from the prevailing winds on 3 sides by land. The cove and the Farnum Creek mud flats are also some of the best fishing locations on the lake. The campsites are fully developed and the park also has a fish cleaning station. Three group camp areas are available and can be reserved by calling the National Recreation Reservation Service.
