From the Anthony Lake area, the first 0.5 mile of the trail passes Lilypad Lake. This shallow lake is covered with yellow water lily blossoms all summer.

The trail crosses wet meadows before reaching the Elkhorn Crest Trail. The trails merge for several hundred feet before Black Lake trail turns, ascending to another meadow along the outlet creek.

The Elkhorn Crest Trail passes within 100 yards of the eastern shore of the lake.

There are several campsites scattered around the lake and the fishing is good.

Closed to all motorized vehicle use.
