As one of Nebraska's biggest cities, Omaha has its share of urban sprawl, but spend a little time in town and find museums, pleasant parks, plenty of places to tuck into for an Omaha steak and somewhat unexpectedly, an indoor rainforest.
Who doesn't live hands-on exhibits? And the Mayborn Museum Complex is sixteen rooms of hands-on discovery. Besides these (which range in subject from animals to transportation), you'll find a historic village that depicts Texas life at the turn of the century. You'll also find the Waco Mammoth Exhibit, where you'll walk atop a see-through floor with casts of mammoth bones under your feet. The originals of these bones were unearthed at the Waco Mammoth Site nearby.
