Description

Fed by snow and glacial melt streaming from Mt. Baker, Mt. Shuksan and the North Cascades, the free flowing North Fork Nooksack offers a summer long season of exciting intermediate whitewater.

The northernmost river in the state of Washington, located only six miles from the Canadian border, the North Fork Nooksack coils through a narrow gorge, lined with boulders and thick, mossy banks and chock full of wave trains and technical rapids. Upon exiting the gorge, the North Fork Nooksack spills into a broad river valley where excellent views of the Northern Cascade Mountains are plentiful.

Wildlife viewing opportunity is good upon the North Fork Nooksack, with sightings of deer, eagles and river otters common. Several towns are located along the Nooksack’s banks and both single day and overnight commercial trips are offered.
