As one of Nebraska's biggest cities, Omaha has its share of urban sprawl, but spend a little time in town and find museums, pleasant parks, plenty of places to tuck into for an Omaha steak and somewhat unexpectedly, an indoor rainforest.
Stevens Pass Greenway takes you through the Cascade mountain range passing by some of the most picturesque alpine scenery America has to offer. Wenatchee National Forest is along the way and filled with old growth forests and home to everything from bald eagles to moose and salmon.
Stevens Pass Greenway begins in the west in Everett 30 miles north of Seattle. The drive travels east for 90 miles on HWY 2 until it reaches the town of Wenatchee in the middle part of the state.
Year round outdoor activities are plentiful as the drive goes by ski resorts, hiking trails, waterfalls, and has mile upon mile of scenic road biking. The Iron Goat Trail is a step back in time with every step forward, following the abandoned Great North Railroad through tunnels, over trestles, and by old labor camps. Another heritage stop is the mountain town of Leavenworth which is a Bavarian village hosting a number of German festivals every year to the backdrop of the Cascades at every corner.
Puget SoundThe Kitsap Peninsula is for those who are drawn to the sea.
